Newport Dunes and San Onofre

For Roxzi's 16th birthday, we spent the weekend at Newport Dunes RV Resort. A beautiful hang-out on Balboa Island's back bay.

Starting Saturday in San Pedro, it took almost two whole hours through downtown Long Beach to Pacific Coast Highway and on to Newport Beach. What a zoo! But who in their right mind wouldn't want to be at the beach on that glorious, sunny day! A good day to watch the handsome fellas and wave at passing older V-dub vans.

That evening we dined at the Back Bay Cafe as a special birthday treat for Rox. The food was good, but pricey. The ambiance was superb! Patio dining overlooking the stunning sunset on the marina made the price well worth it. The service was great too.

Sunday, we hunkered down and watched old movies as we knew it would be too crowded anywhere we went. we toured the beach scene at Little Corona and Big Corona without even thinking about trying to park and head for the water. The beaches were packed. It was fun just to marvel at all the people.
